After painting the internationally famous mural in Honolulu, Wyland returned to his goal of painting 100 Whallng Walls around the world. His next stop was Del Mar, California. In trying to expose as many people as he could to the idea that no matter where we live we are all connected by our oceans and waterways, he chose a 100; x 16; wall on Del Mar’s Gem and Minerals Building in San Diego County, adjacent to the Amtrak Line, where it could be enjoyed by commuters year round. The mural shows gray whales swimming behind three playful dolphins.”One of the most satisfying aspects of doing this wall was that Glenn Frey of the band, the Eagles, dedicated the wall. The Eagles have always been a band that cared about our planet, and Glenn was from Michigan, like me. So, it couldn’t have gotten better than that.”
